Jack W. Ramsay, 68.
– Jack W. Ramsay, 68, passed away on Jan. 13, 2025, in Desert Hot Springs, California after a 5-year battle with cancer that he fought with determination and courage. Born on Nov. 26, 1956, in Atascadero, California, the youngest son of Jean and Jack Ramsay. Jack attended schools in Paso Robles and graduated in 1975.
Jack is survived by his wife, Merlita; his son, Neaven; his sister, Debbie Ramsay Hillman (Alicia); his brother, Dennis; and his nieces and nephews: Denise Carpenter, Teresa Azevedo (Ed), Kate Turner (Chad), Doug Hillman, Jennifer Hillman, Bo Ramsay and Cortney Ramsay. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Ramsay and Norma Jean (Palmer); his sisters Sandy Warner and Bobbi Sanderson; and his brother Mike Ramsay.
Jack retired in 1997 and moved to the Mojave Desert. He found it to be peaceful and he loved living life in the desert.
In 2007 Jack married Merlita Rodriguez, and they welcomed their son Neaven in 2009. Neaven was the light of his life, and Jack spent his leisure time taking Neaven on many adventures inside and outside of California and sharing his love for classic rock and rock music.
Jack was deeply devoted to his family. He always sought ways to support them and never hesitated to lend a helping hand in any way he could. His kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on those around him.
Jack’s greatest passion was protecting animals, particularly dogs. He was known for rescuing stray dogs in the desert area where he lived, ensuring they found loving homes with him and his family. His compassion for animals was widely recognized by those who knew him.
A graveside service will be held on March 14, 2025, at Atascadero Pine Mountain Cemetery in Atascadero, California where he will be laid to rest alongside his Mother, Jeanie, and his Father, Jack.
Jack’s memory will live on through the love he shared with his family and the many lives—both human and animal—that he touched along the way.
