Life sketch of Susan Lou Lord

– Susan Lou Lord went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, March 2, 2025. She was born on July 30, 1951, in Santa Barbara, California, to Gerald Dismuke and Joanne Dismuke (Brimer). The eldest of four children, Susan grew up alongside her siblings, Terri, David, and Darryl, forming lifelong bonds that shaped her life.

She attended San Marcos High School in Santa Barbara, where she built lasting friendships and met her high school sweetheart, Paul Lord. On September 4, 1971, Susan and Paul were married in Santa Barbara, beginning a beautiful journey together. Shortly after, they moved to San Luis Obispo, where they built a home filled with love and faith.

Susan pursued her education at Santa Barbara Community College, earning an Associate of Science degree. She dedicated much of her career to working in eye doctors’ offices, where she was known for her kindness, professionalism, and strong work ethic. Through hard work and dedication, she worked her way up to the role of office manager, always ensuring patients felt cared for and valued.

Susan and Paul were blessed with two children, Pamela, born in May of 1978, and Jonathan, born in July of 1980. Susan was a devoted and loving mother, always encouraging her children and supporting them in their endeavors. Her family was her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into creating a warm and nurturing home.

Beyond her work and family life, Susan found immense joy in reading and was a lifelong learner. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and for more than 40 years, she was a dedicated member of Atascadero United Methodist Church. She found strength, community, and purpose through her faith and church family.

Susan’s kindness, love, and unwavering faith left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, devotion, and faithfulness lives on in her family and the many lives she touched.
