Emily Monarrez.
– Emily Monarrez passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Twin Cities Hospital in Templeton, California on February 3, 2025. She was 78 years young.
Emily was born in Globe, Arizona where at the age of 16 she met Manuel Mendoza Salas. At the age of 18, in 1965, they were married in Globe, Arizona. She worked as a Candy Striper for Globe Hospital. She had her first daughter, Lorraine Ramona Salas, a year later. Soon after, Manuel took a job in Phoenix Arizona. They moved to Phoenix and purchased their first home. Two years later they had their second child, Audrey Catherine Salas.
In 1976 Manuel took a job at the copper mines in Miami, AZ where they moved back to their hometown of Globe. Although Emily was not thrilled with the move, she came back, as she said, “kicking and screaming”. In 1983 they had their third daughter, Vanessa Rebecca Salas. During this time Emily worked in the payroll department of Pinto Valley Copper Mine. They lived in Globe until the passing of Manuel on May 14, 2008.
As fate would have it, Emily found love a second time. She met Rudy Monarrez at a New Year’s Eve dance in Globe. They were married on September 21, 2013, and they settled down in Paso Robles, CA in 2014. They had a wonderful 12 years together.
They traveled the United States pulling their trailer. She loved to travel on the roads of America. She treasured seeing the country and enjoyed cooking meals and living in their trailer. Emily enjoyed cooking on the road better than cooking at home, an ongoing laugh with close family. They spent 6 weeks in Italy in 2023. This was Emily’s last big travel getaway. Rudy and Emily shared a good life and wonderful experiences.
Emily loved life and enjoyed every opportunity given to her to do something fun! She attended concerts, wine parties, family birthdays, holidays, last-minute lunch invitations and even during the last months of her life she was present at all of the local grandchildren’s events. She cherished every minute she spent with her family. She touched all the people she met along the way. She had strong values and spoke her mind freely with love in her heart.
Before she went home, some of her final words were “Let’s party!” And that’s how we intend to honor her life. With laughter, family, friends, and of course wine. She will be forever missed!
