

Coryina Pitcher.
– Coryina Ella (née Hoffert) Pitcher, 91, passed away on February 15, 2025, in Paso Robles, California.
Born on January 11, 1934, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, Coryina grew up with a love for learning that shaped her lifelong dedication to education. She graduated from Emmetsburg High School before moving to King City, California, and earning her Bachelor of Arts degree and teaching credential in English from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
Her passion for teaching was evident throughout her 40-year career as she worked tirelessly to help her middle school students become better readers and writers.
Coryina is survived by her daughters Belinda (Hoss) Christensen and Debbie Hudson grandchildren; Tyler (Melissa) Christensen, Sara (Cameron Smith) Christensen, Cole (Corey) Hudson, and Whitney (Robert) Meyer; as well as nine great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sisters Cacynthia Karickhoff and Carol Kunz, and her brother Ray Hoffert.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Charles “Bill” Pitcher; her parents, Carl and Ella Hoffert; her sister, Wanda (Long)Wienke; and her brother, Delmer Hoffert.
In addition to her many talents and accomplishments, Coryina had a playful spirit and loved visiting Reno to try her luck at the slot machines.
Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering support for those she loved will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
There will be a private family celebration of life.
