Bobbie J Phillips
May 19, 1929 – January 25, 2025
In the care of Kuehl-Nicolay Funeral Home
– Born in Ashdown, Arkansas, Bobbie was the youngest of 5 children in the home. Her family moved to California when she was in junior high school. That is where she created lifelong friendships that have lasted to this day. She graduated from Torrance High School in 1947. She met Llewellyn Phillips at 101 Bowl in Lomita, CA at the age of 23. She and Lew married after his return from Korea in 1952.
They had 3 children, Gary, Gina, and John. Following Lew’s parents’ move to Templeton in 1961, the family began visiting and making friends and moved from Lomita to Templeton in 1967. Bobbie began working in food service at Templeton School District in 1969. She retired after 25 years of service.
Bobbie attended Torrance First Christian church, ABC, PRBC, and NCCF churches over the years. She kept active; country line dancing, ballroom dancing, bowling, golfing, playing cards, Templeton Women’s Club, Business and Professional Women in Paso Robles, and you always received a warm welcome at her home.
For years, the whole family gathered at her home for Thanksgiving celebrations. Special memories were created for many relatives when she hosted up to 60 guests as the extended family grew.
She was proud to be golfing on her 90th birthday. She was frustrated with Covid restrictions and the closing of the bowling alley. She missed her friends, hugs, and bowling, in that order.
Bobbie lived with a warm heart that made everyone feel like family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren all have close friends that also called her om, Grandma Bobbie, or GG. She leaves many nieces and nephews that all loved their Aunt Bobbie. She loved so many so deeply! When you told her you loved her, she would say “I love you more!”
Bobbie is survived by immediate family: children Gary and Gina, grandchildren Kara Combrink (Pieter), Jarret Phillips (Amy), Callie Palm (Josh) and Jody Phillips and great grandchildren Dylan and Caleb Palm, Riley and Blake Phillips, and Lukas, Jakob, and Ellie Combrink. She was, sadly, preceded in death by her husband Lew and son John.
At 95 years, 8 months and 6 days she leaves behind so many friends and loved ones and so many memories. Bobbie recently said “I’ve lived a good, long life”
There will be graveside services held at Paso Robles District Cemetery, 45 Nacimiento Lake Rd, on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 11 a.m. Followed by a celebration of life at the Templeton Community Center, 601 S Main St, Templeton, CA.
